Frequently Asked Questions:

What does a wedding cake cost?

Each cake we make is uniquely and individually crafted to your specific needs and tastes, so there is no hard and fast rule for cost.  As a general guideline, our base price is $3.50 to $4.50 per slice - most designs, including custom work, fall in this price range.

The cost per slice is based on how elaborate and detailed the decorating is, as well as the arrangement and shapes of the cakes. The top (anniversary) tier of the cake is provided FREE of charge as our gift to you, and is not included in your total slice count.

How many slices to I need?

Depending on how much cake you want to end up with after the guests leave, there are a couple easy guidelines to use in determining cake sizes.  As a general rule, most weddings have about 70 to 80% of invited guests actually show up, and most of those will eat cake.  You know your friends and family best, and if you have guests with special diets restricting wheat, dairy, soy, or just cutting calories, they may not be inclinded to partake of your cake.

Typically, if you allow for cake for 70% of your invited guests, you should have a very good idea of how much you need.

Do I set up the cake myself?

Unlike purchasing a cake from your local supermarket, our cakes are all set up by our cake artists, who will deliver, set up, decorate, finish, and photograph your cake, leaving you to simply enjoy without stress or guessing how to construct your cake yourself.

What makes your cakes special?

We have a long reputation for producing only the finest products with an incredible attention to detail.  All of our cakes are hand-made from scratch, using time-tested recipes and premium-quality ingredients. Standard practice at most large-scale bakeries is to have cakes prepared up to four months in advance in a central baking facility and frozen until needed.

At A Taste of Eden, your cake will be baked to order within 24 to 36 hours of the wedding, never frozen, ensuring your guests will be raving about your good taste for years to come.  In addition, our cakes are frosted with our decadently rich and creamy buttercream icing or silky smooth rolled fondant, and beautifully hand-decorated with intricate detail. "Delicious to eat and beautiful to behold," is the creed by which our cakes are created.

How early do I need to order?

Now!  Because all our cakes are made fresh and by hand, many dates fill up very quickly, particularly during the busy spring and summer months.  The earlier you get your cake reserved, the better!

Ordering & Pricing Information:

Custom cake orders begin with a free face to face consultation with one of our cake specialists.  If you are out of the area, we can do your consultation via phone or email.  The consultation is a very important step in designing your cake, as it allows us to determine what style, flavors, sizes, shapes, arrangements, florals, and other decorations you would like, so that we may customize a cake to fit your unique event.  Your consultation should take about 30 minutes, and it is helpful to bring any pictures or ideas you already have with you.

An estimate will be mailed to you within one week of your original consultation, detailing total price, setup, and deposit information.  If the estimate looks acceptable to you, the next step is to place a deposit on the cake.  A standard deposit of 25% of the total price is required to hold your date.  This deposit is refundable up to 90 days prior to your event, and will be deducted from your total due.  The balance is due no less than 30 days before the wedding.

Your deposit guarantees your date, but it does not absolutely lock you into a specific size, style, or type of cake.  At any time up to 30 days before your wedding, we allow you to modify your cake as necessary to allow for changes in guest numbers, locations, or other things that will affect the final cake.

All of our cakes are delivered and set up by our cake professionals.  Delivery is free to many local areas. Other areas will be serviced with a minimum $25.00 delivery fee (includes cake setup).  Please call for specific delivery/setup pricing information.

Congratulations from all of us at A Taste of Eden for reaching this wonderful milestone in your life. We look forward to being a part of it.  To set up your free consultation today, simply call one of our specialists at (360) 996-4371 or email to weddings@atasteofeden.com.
